PHOENIX – The Board of Directors of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce (GPCC) recognized Phoenix City Manager Frank Fairbanks this morning for his continued dedication to Phoenix government and his support of the Chamber. GPCC Board Chair Connie Perez and President & CEO Todd Sanders presented Mr. Fairbanks with a plaque at this morning’s board meeting, marking Fairbanks’ impending retirement after 37 years with the City of Phoenix.
“The Chamber and our Board of Directors wanted to personally thank Frank for all the work he’s done to support the business community,” Sanders said. “He has been an advocate for the production side of the economy by keeping private sector priorities top of mind as decisions are made at City Hall.
“We are sad to see him leave the City, but we look forward to watching what this new part of his life holds for him,” Sanders continued. “No doubt he’ll make a difference in whatever he does next.”
Frank Fairbanks joined the City of Phoenix in 1972 and served many roles throughout the years, including management assistant, executive assistant to the manager and assistant city manager. He was appointed City Manager in 1990 and is responsible to the Mayor and City Council for the day-to-day management operation of the city. He has received many awards and recognitions during his career, including “1994 Municipal Leader” of the year, “1994 Public Official of the Year” and the “National Public Service Award” – the highest award given distinction in public service by the American Society for Public Administration and the National Public Association of Public Administration.
