CHAMBER TO HOLD FORUM ON NATIONAL HEALTHCARE REFORM

PHOENIX - The Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce will present an interactive discussion and luncheon titled National Healthcare Reform: Prognosis for Arizona on Wednesday, August 26th. Congressman John Shadegg, a member of the House Republican Health Care Task Force, will serve as the keynote speaker for this half-day program.

Attendees will have the chance to attend discussion panels regarding the future of healthcare in America. Industry experts will also offer their analysis of how decisions made in Washington will affect us in Arizona. Attendees will be able to choose from one of two panels.

Session One, 9:30 am:
• Impact on Business; James Gelfand, U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Will focus on how national healthcare reform will impact the business community, including costs, insurance options and avoiding penalties.
• Access to Coverage; Charles Bassett, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona and Bob Meyer, Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Will cover how the healthcare reform will affect the requirements of insurance coverage.

Session Two, 10:45 am:
• Delivery of Care; Shelly Schlenker, Catholic Healthcare West and Tony Rodgers, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System. Will explore the use of prevention and wellness programs, medical technology that will decrease cost and the best cost effective treatment options.
• Funding Health Reform; Assistant House Democratic leader Krysten Sinema, Dan Nowicki and Ken Alltucker, Arizona Republic. Will discuss who will pay for the reform, the timeline for the program to be fully operational and the possibility of an increase in taxes.

The event will be held at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort from 8:30 am until 1:30 pm.
